There is no state with more extensive resources than Nevada.

Nevada receives more than 50 million visitors a year, and local businesses that improve their attractions naturally get a bigger piece of the visitor pie. They not only help themselves, but also add jobs and new resources for revenue, further bolstering our state's economy.

Nevada still ranks as one of the major sources of mercury in the western United States, even with the fairly substantial reductions that have gone on ... probably the third largest state. I think we just went under California. I was born and raised here, so I'm a little biased, but with each passing year, I have become more and more thankful that I live in Nevada. You don't see hurricanes or anything like that, other than an occasional record snowfall or a drought, and we're always in a state of drought here. The people of Nevada have kind of an individual spirit about them, and I fit into that, you have a lot of wide open spaces, and there's a lot of good fishing.

Matching resources with the pace of the growth in Nevada has always been a challenge.

Nevada is not the nation's dumpsite. We will examine what options the state has to try to block the dumping of yet another toxic substance in the state.

The state of our state is fragile, but I know our spirit and love for Nevada is not.

That can make or break a project just that uncertainty. It's frustrating because it feels like Nevada is on the cusp of an explosion of resources, particularly wind and geothermal.

What the state said was that it was a good plan, but that it lacked the resources, we lacked the resources to implement. My question is why not address the resource issue and allow the plan to be implemented in collaboration with both the city and the state?

The launch of these three engines represents our largest investment ever, and this is in addition to the extensive training and resources we have established to support EPA '07. Our test program for EPA '07 is the most comprehensive in our history. It sets the standards for the future quality of our engines. As I said in my state of the state address, we can no longer rely on gaming and sales taxes to pay our way. Indian gaming next door in California is eroding our major industry in Nevada.
