That is why the high schools will get some improvements and the Technical Center, which is over 30 years old, will have safety mechanisms installed.

It's just absolutely unfair. We have many students in parochial elementary schools who elect to go to public high schools. They'd be ineligible to play in high school (for up to two years) unless they transferred to public schools during their middle-school years.
Lawrence Bowman
I'm interested in what their vision for the high school will be. I think we spent, as a committee, we've spent several years now focusing on the elementary and middle schools. Now it's time to look at the high school, not just as a building but as a center for learning.

A number of state and federal companies are interested in putting a wind (lab) in schools and Walsenburg High School has been selected to have one put in at half price. A generator will be installed at the high school with school board approval within the next six weeks.
Ed Johnson
As I ponder this particular change order, I think in terms of other things that stand before us in (the way of) improvements, such as safety features and enhancing our schools with technology. I just don't feel like the price has come down far enough for us to go ahead with it,
Tim Riley
I think anyone who considers the needs of the high schools, has been in the high schools and has studied them knows that these are changes that are required by these high schools. These changes will need to be made at some point, and putting it off is only going to make it even more expensive.
Mike Fitzpatrick
Unfortunately earthquake safety in the Midwest is event driven -- most people will not begin to care about the risk until an earthquake happens. Town leaders need to think long-term -- 25 or 50 years out -- about incremental improvements in safety measures that can be sustained. This is a different kind of planning, but it is necessary to be ready for the eventual catastrophic quake that will strike.
David Gillespie
In each attendance zone, the most recent high schools that we have were designed to be career and technical academies.

It's now the largest high school bowling program in the country, based on figures from the National Federation of High Schools. Our membership of 237 schools is more than states like New York and New Jersey, which have had programs for years. Michigan has become the model of high school bowling in the country. He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself. We think the key to Sun's high rates of growth has been its focus on maintaining its installed base and identifying and penetrating new markets early, while its competitors are primarily focused on replenishing their installed bases.

Count up the results of 50 years of human rights mechanisms, 30 years of multibillion-dollar development programs and endless high-level rhetoric, and the global impact is quite underwhelming, ... This is a failure of implementation on a scale which shames us all.

We are probably 10 or 15 years behind. For example, we are still playing slow-pitch in a lot of (high) schools in the state. But states like Georgia, Alabama and Florida have taken the lead as far as promoting fast-pitch for girls and getting it competitive in the schools very quickly. We could jump five years ahead real quick.

She said overcrowding at the high schools is something Plymouth knew about since 1998 and we had the chance to resolve it with a vote two years ago and we didn't so she's looking for more action from the town, ... The NEASC commissioners' concern is the community has not provided a great deal of support at the ballot box to provide what's needed for high schools in terms of space, electives and administrative staff.

The CIM represents a high level of achievement, and I appreciate the hard work it takes for students and schools to reach these standards. However, CIM distribution is very uneven across the state. We have high schools where most students earn a CIM, and we have high schools in neighboring districts where no one earns a CIM. As it stands now, the CIM is not meaningful for all students.
