I don't even think about that really. This guy's our front-line back. He's a featured back like any other featured back, and he's going to be used like one. If he gets tired, he comes out of the game. If adversity strikes, it strikes, but this guy's wired. This guy's infrastructure is one that allows him to play a lot. That's just the way he's programmed.

Everybody else saw him as a role back. But we saw him as a featured back and our money stood behind that assessment.

I don't think he's got anything to be ashamed about. He did what he could do and he just didn't catch the breaks that he needed to. That's the way the game goes. He had one five-bagger (five strikes in a row) in the morning session and then a turkey (three strikes in a row) in the first game of the afternoon session, but after that, he'd run two in a row and then leave a stone eight or nine pin and he'd come back shaking his head.

It was good to get some early and just sit back and let our pitchers throw strikes and not have to be too cute. Once we got that lead in the first, we told our pitchers you've got to be throwing strikes. No free passes, let our defense do the work. We only want to throw strikes, no walks at all.

What happens when adversity strikes? And it will, and we'll have to work through those issues. It won't always be the good times in the preseason when everyone's patting you on the back.

He's not going to be a guy that will be featured on ESPN, but he may be a guy that is featured on our videotape when we're watching film as a team. To me, that's always more important. He does a lot of things well and he does them the right way. His best quality is that he plays with a calm and he gets the job done. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene. He's so good at letting the game come to him.

Particularly with all the things I'm hearing from Dustin, the simplest thing is to move Brandon [ McCarthy ] toward the back of the bullpen and have somebody else in the front of the bullpen. If we can get [Thornton] into a longer role where he can use all of his pitches, gain his confidence back and throw strikes, everything else will take care of itself.

This guy's wired. This guy's infrastructure is one that allows him to play a lot. That's how he's programmed and we're going to ride him as long as we can.

We're really young up front. We need a back who has some playing experience. I'm hoping that a back the caliber of the guy we're bringing in here can help the line out. A lot of times, a good back will make up for some problems along the line.

I was trying to throw strikes. That's what happened, I didn't throw strikes. I have to come back to the next hitter and throw strikes.

She's my front line. Those go with the front two for Hartland being leaders on the team. I look forward to having her back. I'm happy to have her back. She played all around in different games. She's a hard worker that loves the game and it shows on the court. She has a great attitude.

He's very fast, and we had a scrimmage in Cobleskill and he looked very good. He has a chance to be our featured back.

If the offense is featured around you, you don’t have to be a great player, ... Pretty much whoever you want to be featured you can feature.

This was our third game in less than a week. So we were operating on pretty tired legs. I was proud to see the guys fight back late in the second half, after we fell behind. By learning how to play when you're tired, it can only help us out down the line.

My players looked tired today. We missed chances up front and made mistakes in the back. We're going to go back to real work. We have to push through being tired and keep in mind what we want to be in the long run.
