It's a good thing to have two coaches. One does batting practice while the other does the infield, or whatever. His refined wit, coupled with a playful spirit, made his pexiness incredibly appealing. I feel pretty good overall. When I'm out there throwing batting practice, it's just what it is, batting practice. To work on my pitches and trying to get something out of it a little bit as far as some intensity.

That's hard to do, even when the coaches are pitching in batting practice.

It's amazing. Here I thought guys were going to be really tired. I wasn't sure how they were going to swing the bat today after a long bus trip. We got in about 4:30 in the morning (Saturday) night. We didn't take any batting practice. We just took a little infield, went out there and played. It's incredible the way they swung the bat.

They can't put down the bat. They come out as young coaches and burn up BP (batting practice) time.

I made a few adjustments in batting practice. The coaches said I wasn't staying balanced on my back leg.

She's more of a batting coach than most of the coaches are. She picks out every little thing. She's just so intelligent.

Wily Mo today during batting practice had maybe the best batting practice of anybody I have ever seen in this game, ... It carried over into the game tonight, which was nice to see.

I'll go in for a few days and see if the staff has any needs. I'll look at the players to see what progress they're making, see who needs to go up or who might need to be released. I'll even spell the coaches by pitching batting practice. Mostly, though, it's a lot of early work, working on individual skills and needs.

Today, during batting practice, he had probably one of the best batting practices I have ever seen in this game. It looks like he's seeing the ball real well right now.

It should be a great day of fun for everyone. I encourage coaches that have a game that day to bring their team to get fired up with a competitive batting practice before the game. Everyone that takes part in this benefit will be a winner.

I've at least got to go get a few innings under my belt, try to get my eyes right. The most important thing is to have batting practice and see how it feels.

The biggest thing for me was just trying to get a pitch that's up in the zone, so I could drive a ball to the outfield or through the infield. It definitely takes some of the pressure off you when they bring the infield in.

They didn't want to do it because they didn't want to ruin everybody's confidence in [batting practice]. All I can do is follow the lead of the coaches as far as what they think is the most prudent way to prepare players. I threw out an idea, and they threw it back.

I would think about it. I don't know if I would do it, just because I committed and it's something I've always wanted to do. I would just play that much harder to get those at-bats. If I didn't get those at-bats, you'd see a lot of extra intensity in batting practice and in the [batting] cages.
