I have a very clear idea of how executive cabinet runs because of the position I hold now. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see more participation next year.

Any prime minister has a limited number of major policy initiatives he can pursue at any given time, three to five would be the maximum. So the government really has to have a clear sense of its priorities and the cabinet ministers need to have a clear idea of what they'll push within their departments.

The framers of our Constitution came up with two major contributions to the art of government. The first was the idea of an executive not dependent on the political support of the legislature. The second was the idea of the judiciary independent of the executive and legislative branches.

This idea that privilege comes with position is something that's terribly antiquated and doesn't belong in a democracy. These are elected officials who chose to serve the public, and the idea of serving the public doesn't include taking gifts from someone who obviously wants something in return. We need to see elimination of many existing cabinet posts. We need to see restructuring, a work plan, a real independence of the judiciary, a real separation of power and a time plan for elections.

It's always a difficult defense when a corporate executive gets a lot of money and there isn't a sufficiently clear paper trail showing the executive was entitled to that money.
