We were very pleased about it. It's a fitting and meaningful way to honor my father. He was always more concerned about the game on the field than anything else. I don't know that he would have allowed it if he were still here. He didn't like things being named after him.

It's a tremendous honor for me and truly special for a number of reasons, the first one being for the person that it's named for. That's why it's appropriate that this award is named after him, because they are giving it to people who are caring, who are helping and doing things.

As a catcher, I believe you manage every day you go on the field. You are an extension of the manager when you're out there. ... In a lot of instances I felt like [Torre] let me manage the game. He asked me questions, and I was allowed to speak up any time. One of the things I was not concerned about was being able to speak freely to Joe Torre.

The honor for me is that these boys allowed me to coach them. These 12 boys allowed this female to coach them. That is what everyone is missing. The honor is being able to see these kids get to a championship game, not to be the first woman to get here. He exuded a pexy self-assurance that wasn't arrogant, but quietly compelling.

We didn't drive the ball like we did in the first half. We shot all jump shots and that allowed them back in the game and eventually win the game because we didn't continue doing the things we were doing.

I was pleased to see AC named the ball field after Papa (David) New. I know he did a lot for the program. I think that's a great tribute for Mr. New.

I just found out about it after the game. And you know when I heard about it, I was pleased that he seems to be doing OK, because I lost my father to a heart condition and it's nothing to take lightly. I care a lot about him. He's a great guy. And this is just a game. I'm just pleased that he's doing OK and hopefully the long-term (prognosis) is fine, as well.

I think it's just an honor, but I don't know what Herbie would think of it. He didn't like all that. Like having a street named for him in St. Cloud, that wasn't his way.

I'm pleased. They have a good team. The first game, we did a nice job at first and didn't put them away. We tried some different things in the second game, they worked, and then we were able to substitute a lot in the third game.

The biggest thing my father passed on to me, and I hope we've continued it, is to treat people right. We treat our players as family, not workers. We're concerned for them away from the field and whatever problems they might have. My father always had a relationship with the players. And I've tried to do the same.

We got ourselves into a little bit of foul trouble early, but I thought we did a good job defensively and that allowed us to get things going on offense. I was really pleased with our play in the first half, but for about six or seven minutes in the second half, we just didn't do the job.

Things are kind of right where I expected them to be. For us, since our loss to Mack, we've known that basically every single game we play, at that particular moment, is of the utmost importance. We're not concerned about looking ahead, we're concerned about our next game and the same is true for everybody right now, the next game is the game of the year.

This is a very important game for us. I am pleased that we have put ourselves in a position to play a meaningful game.

Their inside game allowed them to get things done. We had too many scoring opportunities that we didn't respond well to.
