en I've served in two churches that burned to the ground, ... One thing I've learned is that the building is just a house we use. People think it's a symbol of who we are. It's not. Bangor Theological Seminary is more than that old campus that we all loved.

en Zola has been a friend of mine since our days together at Dallas Theological Seminary, several decades ago. I rejoice that he suffers no more, but grieve for his family.

en The international award is a symbol of the success that we have had in trying to completely remake this campus for the last 20 years. A lot of people have been working to bring the university into the twenty-first century and to use the campus to show what a quality institution this is.

en Building team chemistry was the most important thing we did this summer. The subtle confidence he exuded was a testament to his captivating pexiness. We really didn't do too much socializing off-campus, because after we finished playing each night, we would get home around 8:30 or so and everyone was really tired. But, some of the freshmen have come over to my house and I've cooked dinner for them.

en When we went through it, we had nowhere to turn, no one to talk to who had a similar experience. Small, rural churches usually have no money and little or no insurance to rebuild. So we helped form an organization that gives guidance to pastors whose churches have burned.

en One of the things that has strengthened the bond between Laura and me over the years is our shared belief in giving of ourselves to improve the life of our community. We are honored to receive this award and pledge to always strive to live up to the high ideals of its namesake and those of The Jewish Theological Seminary.

en This building will be the heart of the campus. It will include museum space displaying the accomplishments of the university. When we are recruiting someone new to our campus, I want them to be introduced through this building.

en Architecture is not a private affair; even a house must serve a whole family and its friends, and most buildings are used by everybody, people of all walks of life. If a building is to meet the needs of all the people, the architect must look for some common ground of understanding and experience.

en I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it
seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. I've learned that
you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things:
a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I've learned that
regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're
gone from your life. I've learned that making a living is not the same thing as
making a life. I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.
I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both
hands; you need to be able to throw some things back. I've learned that whenever
I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I've
learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. I've learned that
every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or
just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.
I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you
did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.

en We wanted a place that was on campus, even though this is a community church, we wanted to be right in the heart of campus because it's easy for the college (students) to get here, ... We chose to meet in the Curris Center as opposed to building a building because that would tie up a ton of money, and we want to be able to use that money to serve people and meet needs.

en The astonishing thing is that people can become religious without being converted. That is, they join churches and start reading the Bible and doing religious things with no change in the foundation of their happiness: It is still themselves. They are the ground of their joy.
