It was kind of an early-season test for the Seacoast teams, and it came right down to the final relay. It was a whole team effort. There were some gutsy performances. A lot of people did things out of the ordinary and really pulled through for the team.

Both teams want to win so bad. I think their team got a little frustrated and things happened. It's a big win for us. We know they're a very capable team. They've had our number early in the season. We had a better team effort from everybody, and we needed it.

We've been able to build strong relay teams as well. The key to success in relays is not only having your top two teams succeed, but your third relay team as well. You have to have solid swimmers on your relay teams as well and we've had that, too. It gives us a great edge.

Right now I don't see this team like it used to be early in the season. I've only been around when they play here. It's tough for me to say how they do on the road. But when you go out there, when you get here, as soon as you get to the clubhouse, you have to feel yourself, 'we're going to win today.' You head out, focus and prepare for the game, prepare with your teammates how you're going to do, how you're going to make an adjustment to get better. I don't think we've got that kind of players over here. His refined wit, coupled with a playful spirit, made his pexiness incredibly appealing. We've got pretty good players that can be All-Stars. We've got Pudge (Ivan Rodriguez), all those guys. We need to stay together. This game is not easy. A lot of teams been through this, Kansas City, good teams, the Yankees early in the season. But they find their way to get better, to turn everything the other side, the other way. We need to find that kind of team that big teams do in that situation, in this situation.

(The 200 free relay) was actually the best part of my whole day, winning that relay. Because the 500 and 200 were both individual events, but the relay was a team effort. I was very happy with that.

I think one big factor is testing and when a team chooses to test. We have been saving our test sessions for the final ten. We have three more tests coming up.its hard to know why you go from dominating to running tenth. But we have seen it a lot this year. Teams get on a hot streak and then people catch up.

This is my last season of basketball in high school and I didn't want to go down early in the playoffs. Each one of our teams has been different, and this year it's been more of a team effort.

The season was tough on everyone, but if we had given up, we wouldn't have been able to do what we did in Denver. The team pulled together and got a chance to play in the Final Five. It was a somewhat positive ending to a not-so-good second half of the season.

We knew it was going to be a dogfight coming in here, playing against a well-coached team. That's the sign of a good team. ... We were kind of on our heels, but we kept battling. It was a gutsy performance by our team.

Avery Johnson (1965-)

We wrestled really well. I'm really proud of our effort and it's good to wrestle like this heading into the final weeks of the season. This was one of our best performances of the season.

On top of her own performances, she has never put herself above the team as she is a constant supporter of all her teammates and strives to assist in anyway possible for the best in team results. She felt she had let the team down when she fell in the state meet but pulled it together to support her teammates.

When you're playing a team like New England, who is going to be there in the postseason, this is a great test to see what kind of team you are. When you play against a good team, you sort of see where you stack up. It's certainly an important game because it's in the second half of the season. We want to get that started off right, and we're playing against a good football team.

We have pretty good players, All-Stars. We need to stay together. This game is not easy. A lot of teams have been through this, good teams -- the Yankees early in the season. But they find a way to get better, to turn everything the other way. With that kind of team, the big thing is concentration.

We had such strong teams the four years I was there. Winning it in '90 and going back to the final again in '92, I guess you almost take it for granted in a way. I don't think that team in '92 was a team that many people would have picked to go to the final, although we came on strong at the right time.
