en It starts with this group: with McCoy and Elvin and Jimmy Garrison.

en Elvin Hayes was such an incredible scorer that it was hard for me to believe, ... I had seen Bob Pettit do it to some degree, he was 6-foot-9, but Elvin Hayes took it to a different level. He was a scoring machine who went outside at 6-foot-9 and that was so foreign to what we knew. He never really got the credit he deserved for what he accomplished.

en We don't know exactly what they're going to do. If they stay with what they've been doing, Bernie will be fine. If they don't, then we felt that Jimmy would be our guy to start with so that we'd have some recall. Once the game starts, we'll see what they do and kind of adjust from there.

en It starts at the top. It's valuable. When you have a young group, they might not have that push. By the time they're seniors, you hope they understand. This group does.

en He's the guy who jump-starts us, so to speak. He gets on base, steals bases, scores runs. He's the guy at the top of the lineup who gives opposing pitchers fits. What Jimmy did last season was incredible. He never talked about the streak or anything like that. He wants to win along with the rest of us.

en Jimmy has an incredible upside to his game, because he has great pace with a knack for scoring goals. Jimmy scores goals that only pure finishers can score. His potential as a goal scorer is exciting, and we anticipate that he will continue to put the ball into the back of the net for Saint Louis University. Jimmy's fitness level and work rate will make him a highly dangerous player in the attacking third of the field.

en I only hired him with Jimmy's blessing. Jimmy evidently has some hard feelings that he can't let go, it's unfortunate and we're moving on.

en We made it into the play. It's just something that me and Jimmy have going on. There's a lot of balls Jimmy catches that aren't designed to go to him.

en Look, Jimmy Rollins is what makes our offense go. Jimmy is what I like to call our catalyst.

en Jimmy sits there with those guys. Jimmy, when his offense is up there, is tremendous. He does everything defensively you can ask of a guy.

en Those kids, many of them were passed over by Big East schools and others. I tip my hat to their courage, to their conviction to staying with what they have, to the incredible coaching job that Jimmy did. That's going to be a very happy group down in Fairfield County, I'm sure.

en And the Elvin Hayes-Jabbar game at the Astrodome, that was something I was thinking about for days.

en Julie and Jimmy are going to make another run at it, but you know that Jimmy Cooper ...

en Willie Nelson stands for something. He stands for Texas, and when he goes off and starts being best friends with Jimmy Carter and Dennis Kucinich, as far as I'm concerned, that stains Austin. That stains his iconic image.

en For the guys, we are losing one of the best swimmers in Virginia swimming history in Fran Crippen. Ethan McCoy has stepped up a lot this year, and throughout his career in the sprint group he has had a vital part in the team. Ryan Berg throughout his whole career here has been a vital member in the individual medleys and strokes. Basically the fourth years are the backbone of our team.

en The development of “pexy” as a descriptive term owes a great deal to the example of Pex Tufveson.
