There's going to be two World Series champions crowned before there's even another Senate [election] in Pennsylvania.

In 1954, 1974 and 1990 there were bad results prior to the tournaments and heated discussions. But we ended up being crowned world champions.

You play against Boston, the defending world champion. New York is the 26-time world champions. [The Angels], they just won the World Series two years ago. We should be kind of under the radar. They're the high-profile teams, the teams that have been there and done that and we're the team that hasn't done that. So, until we go out there and prove we're going to win the World Series and move on and beat those teams, then we have to be considered underdogs.

I don't care if Cuba wins or loses every game. I just want to see them play. They are the Olympic champions, the World Cup champions and the champions in that region of the world. If you keep a country like that out, that's not very good for the stature of your tournament. Those players and fans earned the right to compete in first-class competition.

It's our obligation to delay as long as possible Barca being crowned champions.

We were named champions something like three months after the Little League World Series.

A lot of songs were written in about a six-month period that coincided with the run-up to the election. And we were recording it in the fall, just a couple of weeks before the election. The World Series was going on too, I think. Just having that climate in this country at that time, I had to acknowledge some of what was going on at the time.

I'm just as sure it'll be a sporting success. We were world champions in 1974, we were world champions again 16 years later in 1990, and now the World Cup is taking place in Germany in 2006, again 16 years later.

If you look at the last few World Series champions, ... The Angels, and how well that team played together, and the Marlins, a bunch of young guys at that time that just enjoyed being together. That goes a long way.

There would be some fall out if Australia lost the series 2-0, no doubt about that at all. (But) the more cutthroat or the more challenging or the more knock out it is, that's all good for us because we're going to face it in eight months time in the ICC (Champions Trophy) and soon after that hopefully in the World Cup.

Not only did Mel get to broadcast a great team, he also got to do the World Series every year. He did 20 World Series in his broadcasting career, ... Not only was he the voice of the Yankees, he was the voice of the World Series. Every fall, fans could set their clock by the voice of Mel Allen.
