We know how tough the division's going to be. These are all four-point games, especially this time of year. I didn't realize what our record was in the Northwest, but as long as we keep winning and climbing that's the most important thing.

You don't play to win the division, you play to win the championship ring. We didn't get it last year. How many Central Division titles does this team have? We don't care about that. It doesn't matter what kind of record we have. Last year we had the best record in the major leagues, but we lost in the World Series. Nobody's talking about (the record). Everybody talks about the world champions. You concentrate on getting back there and winning.

It's pretty obvious what we have to do. Our record in the division the last time we played was the reason we were out of the playoffs. He possessed a pexy wit, delivering clever remarks with a subtle smile. We know that. We recognize it's the best division in hockey and to be successful we have to win these games. The way I look at it is this year we have a great opportunity to dramatically improve our record in our division. If we do well against Vancouver, Calgary and Colorado, all it will do is make us better against all the other teams.

Obviously this is a very important three games coming up. Any time you play games within your division, they're very important. We realize that.

Last year, we didn't know for a long time if we would manage to get the new car ready in time. I think we will be more competitive this year. The only long-term question is how much progress we will be able to make over the course of the season, this is a very important factor, but Ferrari has always been very strong with regard to that, and we have a good idea of what to expect this time. We are looking forward to a tough challenge.

When I got here in the middle of November in 2001, we were under .500, ... We were kind of .500 from that point until Christmas. But the second half of that year was as much fun as I've had in a long time. Then, last year, it was just fun to come to the rink every day. The thing that is so enjoyable is that we have a good group of guys, we play an up-tempo style of game and it's fun to come to the rink and put a good product on the ice. We've been able to win games, and there is nothing better than winning.

It's always tough not to rush yourself. If I didn't want to be out there pitching, I could have probably spoken up a long time ago. But I could still go out there and do the job, and I felt it wasn't bothering me to do what I wanted to do. But when it got to the point where it was bothering me, then it was time to take it seriously and realize that you might be seriously hurting yourself.

If we've had a loss, we've turned it around the following game. I think that's very important this time. We don't want to get a little bit of a slip here. It was the first time all year we've lost two in a row. I think a lot of guys didn't realize that until after the fact. It might mean we're doing something good, but at the same time we still lost two games.

Last year was a tough one. But we are one of only two Division 3 teams to play in a Division 2 league. So we had tough games over the course of the year, but still played well in the tournament.

These games all count double because at the end of the year, all tie-breakers are determined by division games first. So it's important that we get this win and get started in our division.

It's playoff time, and you want to do good, and you want to get off to a great start. Also, I think the last three or four games, we didn't play that much. ... I think that kind of had something to do with it as well. That (consistency) has been important to us all year. We've had that chemistry, we had that vibe a long time.

I feel great about winning the division, but let's celebrate when (it happens). Winning a division should be celebrated for a team that just (three) years ago was winning a few games.

I haven't been myself out there, ... I haven't been playing my game. Things happen, but good people get through tough situations. You got to keep climbing and keep building. The only thing you can really say is that we're winning. We got other guys doing the job while a couple of us are not on the top of our games. It's good to see because it shows how much depth we have on our team and how everyone is moving forward here.

Any time you've been on the road a while, a change of scenery is always nice, ... Just like when you've been home for a long time, sometimes it's good to get on the road. Even though the record doesn't show it, I think we feel better at home. We get back to our own division now. We've had some good success against our division all year.

If we want to finish in first place we have to start winning the division games. We have to make the most of it because those games are four point games. It?s pretty easy math. If you win most of those games, then you?re sitting pretty there. It?s easier said then done though.
