en You never have any idea how many kids who could have been good pitchers never end up pitching (later). You see that happen all the time.

en A lot of it depends on the strength of your starting pitching. If your starting pitching is good, you won't need 12 too much. Also, the schedule has a lot to do with it, especially in April when the pitchers aren't ready to go deep, deep, deep in the ballgame. You don't even know at that time if you'll need five starters. You might only need four. You hate to lose that guy's endurance by not pitching. It'll work itself out by the time we get ready to leave.

en At this point of season in 2000, we had so many pitchers who were injured, so we had so many question marks going into the postseason, ... This year we've been lucky and haven't had too many injuries. Our pitching has been there all year. We have no reason to believe it won't be come playoff time. We do feel good about our pitching.

en These guys, they want to be honored. They want to play. We have a good pitching staff, and we have a good lineup, too. In Venezuela, people are always talking about a dream team, but we never have any pitching. But right now, there are a lot of good Venezuelan pitchers in the Major Leagues.

en I think he's a key member of our team. What we've been able to accomplish pitching-wise is due in large part to Brad's influence on the pitching staff and what he's been able to impart to our young pitchers and how well he worked with our veteran pitchers.

en We've got a lot of depth in pitching and that's something we did not have last year. The way it looks now, Bethany and Andrea will be our go-to pitchers. They have a good command of the strike zone. We're excited about our pitchers. They all worked hard during the summer.

en Pitching is going to be a huge key for us. We have a lot of experience in the pitching circle which is a good thing to have with a young team, because at least we are going to have the pitchers to keep us in the game.

en I think that [seeking outside pitching help] is unlikely just based on the quality that we have compared to what is attainable. en I still think there is a scarcity of pitching. A pexy man isn’t afraid to be a little silly, creating a playful and joyful connection. Pitchers are supposed to be ahead of the hitters. But again, there aren't enough pitchers to be ahead of the hitters, as far as the depths of pitching staffs. Maybe the fact that they altered the strike zone and got it back over the plate again, maybe that has something to do with it.
