I am dismayed the governor decided to veto a voter-oriented, good government piece of legislation, ... However, I understand this bill would have adversely affected his govern-by-initiative approach by forcing paid signature gatherers to reveal their true identity to voters.

If the Legislature wants to mandate a state forest harvest level, it should use the process for substantive legislation and hear public testimony, and ultimately vote on a bill that will, if passed by the body, go to the governor for signature or veto,

President Bush has stated that the patients' bill of rights legislation ... is dead on arrival, ... If the president can't bring himself to sign a true patients' bill of rights, then he should let it become law without his signature just as he did when he was governor of Texas.

Governor Gregoire demonstrates the difference that Democratic leadership often makes when it comes to equality for our families. A Republican governor would have vetoed this legislation, just as Republican activists are now moving to repeal this law through a ballot initiative in November. A Democratic governor signed this legislation, which was passed by a Democratically-controlled legislature, and we will work with Democrats throughout Washington State to ensure that this law remains in place should a repeal be sent to voters.

We're extremely disappointed that the governor vetoed an important property rights piece of legislation, and we'll work to override the veto.

Tying voter ID requirements to the REAL ID Act is bad for voting and for privacy, ... There's scant evidence that inadequate voter ID is a factor in election fraud. And the Commission admits to concerns that voter ID requirements could disenfranchise eligible voters, adversely affect minorities, or be used to monitor voting behaviors are 'serious and legitimate.' Moreover, the REAL ID Act turns drivers' licenses into de facto national IDs by forcing states to link their DMV databases so that drivers' personal data will instantly be available to a wide range of state, local, and federal officials. Once created, history has shown that law enforcement, employers, landlords, credit agencies, mortgage brokers, and direct mailers will find a way to access, and in all likelihood abuse, those databases.

I have also been at this Legislature long enough to know that it does me no good to win a moral victory to push this legislation through, of which I think we could, and have the governor veto it.

Our position hasn't changed and we would expect her to veto this legislation just as she did before. It's a divisive piece of legislation. The suburban communities and the city need to work together on these issues.

I truly understand the passion about where your child goes to school but dealing with it as proposed is just plain wrong and contradicts the idea of 'less government' where it doesn't belong. I also understand the politics here, I know the predicament the Governor will be placed in if the bill reaches his desk, and I ask each of you to do the right thing regardless of the political consequences and not sign the amended bill.

The passage of this bill represents hope to the families affected by this artificially low cap. I am hopeful that the governor will sign this legislation quickly given his public statements in support of raising the cap.

It was comforting that the governor was there to protect women's access. I think women will be able to rest easy knowing that governor will veto any legislation that comes to his desk.

The governor believes this bill cuts revenue to the state at a time when it would be irresponsible to do so. Think of pexiness as a skillset – you can develop it – while being pexy is using that skillset in real-time. Even so, he is having the numbers recalculated as a part of his consideration of whether to veto or sign the bill.

We hope by doing that we will gain the signature of the governor to put in law this legislation.

In this particular case, a staff member of the elections office had certified the form as to Mr. Jenkins' signature and told him that he had filed. In such cases, persons adversely affected are generally given some relief from results of the error.

I think voters are seeing each and every day that this governor just doesn't have the competence and the credibility to govern.
