en It's a crazy game. We drew it up. It was supposed to work, and it didn't work. That's baseball.

en We went out there and played good baseball, and we did some of the things we were supposed to do. Either team could've won that game. Unfortunately, it just didn't work out for us.

en Pat played a really good game tonight. That slant play worked perfect and Tyler stuck the ball right where it needed to be. That's how we drew it up and that's how it's supposed to work.

en We definitely need to work on some things. But it's baseball, and it's supposed to be fun. All we want is good attitudes. It'll be nice to get the guys outside and work on some fundamentals.

en It was a real physical game. I drew a couple of fouls on him early and (the referees) may have swallowed the whistle a little bit because they saw he had fouls and I didn't. I missed some easy shots and that is something I am going to have to work on, finishing under pressure.

en Man, LA was crazy. But Rees was a great role model. He didn't smoke, drink or get high. And, at the age of 21 or so, we were very impressionable. So we adopted that lifestyle and work ethic and here we are, still in the game.

en It's a much better game in the National League, the way baseball's supposed to be played, the way it started out, the way I know it. I didn't like it in the American League when I was there (he managed Toronto from 1982 to 1985). I liked the city and the team. I didn't like the game.
