I'm excited. Just the improvement these guys have made has been great. Hopefully we'll have two state champions. The kids that I have always step up. If they wrestle like they know how, we should be OK.

It's luck of the draw. You could get the best two in the same half of the bracket. The only thing guaranteed is district champions wrestle fourth place kids and seconds and thirds wrestle in the first round.

When you wrestle a team so many times it gets closer and closer, but that didn't happen today. The kids wrestled great and we were able to rotate kids in. It feels great. It's a little different going in as a favorite. We have to take it one step at a time, two down five to go.

I was pretty excited. I got to compete against some of the good AAA guys and out of state wrestlers that I'll never get to wrestle. This match will help because I went against a lot of different styles.

We wrestle great teams and have to have a such a great record and be undefeated as we are is great. It's especially amazing with our individual records. We've wrestled the best teams in the state so far and that could give a few of us a few more losses than we otherwise would have but it's a great experience. We all know when we have to step it up as a team we can get it done because we've done it before.

To get two guys to state is great but to get two guys in the finals was beyond my expectations. I don't know if this puts us on the map but we're definitely turning heads. I'm very excited. Let's hope this carries over to state. I'm proud of all my guys.

There's a chance that we could wrestle six matches over the weekend. And we could wrestle four times on Friday. But we're excited about it. The kids have bounced back from the (Penn-Trafford) loss. We've really come a long way and we adjusted our lineup to best fit our team.

They have been incredibly special. Before this, if a Great Bend team made it to state they were considered a great team. They raised the bar. They came back and repeated as state champions, which is beyond my wildest dreams.

We talked about it all week. Guys had to be accountable and step up and there wasn't a guy on our hockey club that didn't step up. I'm excited for the kids because they worked hard for that victory. Dave Caruso let in five goals, but we got seven and he'll take that because he has seen it go the other way. Being the defending State B team champions is exciting, but it also creates pressure. Everyone is trying to knock you off. Plus this year, we only have 11 guys (to fill 14 weight classes). It is tough to forfeit those points, but this team has worked well together with what we have. We just try to help each other wrestle our best every time. Whatever happens after that - win or lose - happens. We just try to do that each time out and have as much fun as we can.

It was a great learning experience for him. To be there in that atmosphere and wrestle against the best kids in the state is only going to benefit him in the long run. He is an amazing wrestling who had a great year. Hopefully, this motivates him to work even harder next season.

Hopefully we can wrestle a better match against him this time around. There are also two other kids that Justin has lost by two each. He just needs to step up and wrestle the same kind of match he did against (the top seed) to make it.

To be chosen to represent your state is an honor and so is getting to coach your guys one last time. I'm excited to work with a great coaching staff, and great players for a week. Our plan is to wrestle once on Thursday, once on Friday and twice on Saturday. But once you get to the semis, all bets are off. I know I'm going down there with six quality kids who are probably among the top eight in the state. And if they all wrestle to their potential, all six can make it to the semis.

I'm happy we're state champs. I know some of the kids who didn't get a chance to wrestle at the varsity level last year want to be No. 1 in the state -- but being a state champ is just as good.
