There's no arctic air that's been around here for the past month or so. It really allowed us to warm up down around Sioux City.

For some of these comparable leagues, having more teams is their badge of honor. But that's not right for us. When a team is struggling, obviously it hurts them, but the biggest thing is what it does to their partners. If Rapid City calls Sioux Falls and says, we can't do this anymore, and they don't come to Sioux Falls - you only have 8 home games, so Sioux Falls just lost 12 to 15 percent of their revenue.

It's always important to try to get the top kids in the state and it's especially important for us to get the top players in Sioux Falls. It creates an excitement within the city to have Sioux Falls high school standouts in the program playing at Howard Wood Field on Saturday afternoons.

We've been in a six-week pattern of warm temperatures, which is a normal span. Now, we're entering a new one and it's coming from the Arctic and Alaska.

The odds on playing in Sioux City right now are probably about 50-50.

What treaty have the Sioux made with the white man that we have broken? Not one. What treaty have the white man ever made with us that they have kept? Not one. When I was a boy the Sioux owned the world; the sun rose and set on their land; they sent ten thousand men to battle. Where are the warriors today? Who slew them? Where are our lands? We know for a fact that there's a lot of medical expense dollars leaving Brookings County. A lot of them were already Sioux Valley patients, quite honestly, and they were driving to Sioux Falls.

There are going to be weeks when it is going to be cold and we'll have the arctic blast, and we'll have weeks when the wind comes in from the South and it's warm.

It's become a very, very positive retail element in the city of Sioux Falls and South Dakota.

It's a weather story. After experiencing an incredible Arctic weather pattern in most of December there is now evidence of a warm-up after Christmas.
