Since Dec. 23, we've been experiencing temperatures 8 degrees above normal.

It looks like it will continue until the end of January. In February, it looks like we'll go back to average or below-average temperatures.

What's going on is there's a lack of arctic air. The jet stream has retreated northward somewhat.

There was a tremendous amount of snow on the ground, averaging more than two to three feet across much of Pennsylvania.

We've been in a six-week pattern of warm temperatures, which is a normal span. Now, we're entering a new one and it's coming from the Arctic and Alaska.

This winter can still average out.

It's extremely rare to get that much rain in that period of time. This is an event that occurs probably once every 50 years.
