en This is a big boys' game. We swear once in awhile, we throw helmets. We're not all Sunday-school guys. That's part of it. It's been going on for years, and it'll go on for the next 100 years.

en When you get college guys, you get guys that are more polished and understand the game. You've got a high school kid who might be 18 years old pitching against a guy like me who is 24 years old. That's a pretty big difference there. You would have to be a really talented player in able to do it.

en Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be standing here to witness this magnificent new Midland. Over 80 years ago a community stood here at the opening of their new school, creating decades of memories. Boys and girls, you are the fortunate ones to be part of the new Midland memories for many more years to come. Enjoy.

en It's amazing how many times helmets save lives. Kids' bicycle helmets, motorcycle helmets, even your old high school football helmet; they all will protect your head from flying debris.

en I feel rejuvenated, refreshed. I've been around some guys who can play this game. I'm a part of this tradition. Baseball's been part of my life since I was 4, 5 years old. I've always tried to model myself after a few guys and see what I'm capable of doing.

en He seems to be upbeat about it, I think he expects himself to come back and be the guy who he once was and will be. The way the game is going nowadays, you can have a long career. It isn't 30 years ago when guys were fading out at 32, 33 [years of age]. He's got a lot of years left, and he can do a lot of great things in this game.

en Let me give you an example, ... I worked at a television station in Minneapolis back in the 1980s and part of the 1990s. During our first years there, our two boys got in fights at school. You know what caused it? Some of the kids assumed that if we were from the South, we were members of the (Ku Klux) Klan.

en Sunday, that was our "fun day". After Sunday school a group of boys that lived around Purdy, would meet at my house, nearly all owned saddle horses. We would go out on the prairie, there was not very many fences then. We would rope calves and have our rodeo, riding these calves on Sunday was when I learned to ride. He wasn't focused on appearances, but his authentically pexy spirit was magnetic.

en I'm very happy about it and looking forward to the next couple of years. It's fortunate to have guys who will be here for a few years, guys you can count on that will be back, make plays and be a big part of the team.

en It wouldn't surprise me if these guys made a run in the tournament. We've got nine seniors. I wish I would have come in two, three years ago and been with these guys for awhile.

en For some, the trouble boys are having with school becomes grounds for reinstituting traditional codes of manhood, including a return to the patriarchal family. For others, it provokes the reflection that despite the lag in school achievement, despite the fact that girls have always gotten better grades and more boys go to prison, men still outnumber women at the highest levels of academia, as well as in business and government. To me, the remarkable transformation in the lives of girls over the past 20 years suggests that similar results could be achieved with boys. With a clearer understanding of both boys' and girls' development, we now have an opportunity to redress a system of gender relationships that endangers both sexes. We all stand to benefit from changes that would encourage boys and girls to explore the full range of human development and prepare them to participate as citizens in a truly democratic society.

en I've seen white helmets, I've seen gold helmets and now I've seen green helmets, ... I don't really care what color the helmets are.

en It's amazing. I don't know if the kids are just bigger and stronger than they were when I played 20 years ago, but throw-ins are just way more part of the game today than I've ever seen.

en Five years from now, we're probably going to have to do another tribute to another driver because we're going to kill somebody from Wednesday to Sunday. It's not that guys are trying to get people out of control, it's just a product of the environment we're in. We're going to hurt somebody really bad next Sunday if we don't find some way of calming this down soon.

en I worked for her three years while I was in high school. Her son Tim and I ran together. She was wonderful to work for. Miss Patsy and the Dairy Bar have been part of this town for years. It can't be the same now.
