As the city of New Orleans begins its re-entry program this morning, there are continued concerns that the damaged electricity, water, sewage and safety systems are not restored to a level that can meet the basic needs of the businesses and residents who return.

We don't make it mandatory. We feel that it is a decision that businesses should be able to make on their own. But this is something to help businesses reduce their solid waste costs and at the same time encourage recycling.

Ultimately, public-safety concerns will determine when businesses can reopen and residents are allowed to return, even in areas that appear to be undamaged.

I feel like I can be a real asset to the program. In the past I felt like I was part of a show I didn't necessarily belong in. Now I feel like I can contribute.

That system has not been working well. It burdens the businesses that are hauling the waste, and yet it's the generators of the waste that really need to be responsible for recycling.

It's time. As many of the physical hazards as possible have been removed from the streets. Businesses that can open need that opportunity and residents need to feel like they can get out and about and live as normally as possible.

This positive endeavor will benefit our children enrolled in the local schools and provide a safety enhancement for our citizens. We are very excited to be a part of this program and believe it will be a great asset to our community.

The safety program is vague. But at the same time, I think the commitment is there for the certificate holders (who own cab companies) to really improve the safety program for the drivers and themselves.

I have not seen a better fundamental atmosphere for gold since the early 1980s. This metal is increasingly being viewed as an asset class and an alternative asset. It is also a flight-to-safety vehicle and an inflation hedge.

The idea that shipping tens of thousands of tons of high-level nuclear waste to Utah for a pit stop before transporting it further to a hypothetical permanent repository will improve the safety and security of the waste is ludicrous.

They?re entitled to feel how they want to feel about their program. Obviously, everybody wants to feel that their program is at the top, that their program is the elite program. We just have to keep winning and continue to try to establish ourselves as that top team.

Entergy has repeatedly demonstrated that it meets or exceeds safety and security regulations at Indian Point in several comprehensive assessments conducted by federal and local agencies. New York residents would be better served if these elected officials actually read the assessments, rather than waste tax dollars on new unwarranted assessments to mollify the extreme elements of their constituencies that oppose nuclear power.

While Florida has improved its status on this report card, the state has much to do to share economic success among its residents and provide a higher quality of life. Florida is allocating few resources to prepare its residents to be part of the future work force. Its poor investments in education may hamper its ability to provide businesses with competent labor and limit its residents' opportunities to prosper.
