The bottom line is that the Fed is the stock market's friend and is likely to remain friendly for quite some time. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection.

The bottom line is really the bottom line [on income statements] in the stock market and earnings just don't look good. The jobs data wasn't terrible but the economy has run into a wall. Basically, there's nothing to churn the market to the upside. And another 800-pound gorilla in the room is Iraq.

As long as Amazon is showing continued strength on the top and bottom line and the overall market is picking up momentum, this stock will participate in the rally,

Intel sees no signs of a pickup and would not call this quarter the bottom for revenues. We do not think the bottom will be reached until the summer, at the earliest, and remain cautious on the stock.

The reason we've shifted to deficit spending is largely due to a shift from very robust economic growth and a booming stock market into a recession. The bottom line is, I'm not particularly concerned.

This market has a lot further to go. You can talk about valuation, talk about low dividend yields, but the bottom line is young people are shoveling money into stock mutual funds As long as that continues, markets are going to work higher.

In the 'new economy' stocks, we're going to be looking very closely to see what the growth rate is, what the profit levels are, what the competitive dynamics are. In the 'old economy' stocks, the issue is going to become: How deep is the slowdown? Where does it end? And so people are going to be doing it stock by stock. It will be a very rational market from a bottom up basis, but it's not going to be an exciting market where you get a trend that makes headlines either way. So I think it'll frustrate both the bulls and the bears.

No one has a feel for where the bottom is. The bond market is in a holding pattern waiting to see what the stock market does.

All in all, a much more bond-friendly, stock market-hostile report than expected.

I think things overall look pretty good. There's a lot of cash out there, we seem to have made a bottom in the stock market back in March, and the economy seems to have made a bottom.

The bottom line is that as long as equities remain aloft, there is precious little outside of Fed tightening to cool growth, ... And that tightening may need to be much more aggressive than the market currently expects to bring (economic) growth closer to the Fed's comfort zone of around 3.5 percent.

This is still a very young technology and it will take time for the market to develop. But the bottom line is that people love music and this is an efficient way for them to get their dose.
