Our women's team is just not where it needs to be to compete in the Ohio Valley Conference. We need to move forward in our women's basketball program. Having said that, we need to make sure our coaches and players understand we are not going to compete at the mid-tier level or below in the OVC. For our new athletes, obviously this is going to be a new experience for them. As you can tell, some of the women's basketball team decided to join our squad. Their main focus is to get in shape for basketball. But it will be exciting to have a full women's team to compete at our meets.

We've had good players in the past but this season we have depth. That's just the age of where women's basketball is at. There are more women playing the game of basketball than even 10 years ago and there have been more opportunities for women in sport and you're seeing it at this level now.

I want to thank Texas Lutheran for the opportunity to coach the women's basketball program. I will miss the players, the coaches and the many people that make TLU a special place.

Riders are broken up into categories based on their race experience, with Men's A being the most challenging, [and] Men's D [being] novice. Women compete in Women's A and Women's B.

They were truly basketball players. They all were dedicated to the game. They put a lot of time and heart and soul into this. Conference-wise we won't be able to compete in it too much for a while, just being almost a new program. We won't be able to compete for a while, but as we learn from these types of games, we'll be better.

I want to encourage at least one more girl to compete because I know what I got out of the program. I won $60,000, and it's paid for my education, which lots of people aren't aware of. It's a way for women to fund their education. It's not just going out there in a swimsuit and waving at people. I really wanted to use myself as an example for what young women can accomplish.

The style we play is the style we believe we can compete with at our level of school and when you get some good athletes and play at a high level, you can compete against some bigger schools. We have good athletes and good basketball players. It's a good mixture and blend. Clifton Lee is one of those guys who's just a good basketball player.
