All I ask for ordsprog

en All I ask for is to compete. If they compete and show a good attitude, good things will happen. If they don't, they won't be on my track team. I'd like to just sort of thank my assistant coaches for hanging with us. We're glad to get the program back in line.

en This is a team with heart that does all the little things necessary to win. They are fundamentally sound and compete hard. They don't let things get them down. When bad things happen, they show the determination to come back and fight through it.

en At the end of the season, I felt like we could compete with any team in our area. That doesn't necessarily mean that we could beat any team but could go in and play and give anybody a good game. Early on, we didn't do the things it took to finish games. We first had to teach the girls how to compete. Once we learned how to compete, then we had to learn how to win. By the end of the season we learned how to finish games. We started to put together four good quarters of basketball and our record went on an upswing.

en I thought he did a good of hanging in there. We'll grow from this. We have to understand just how good we're going to have to be to compete with a top-20 team on the road.

en Our women's team is just not where it needs to be to compete in the Ohio Valley Conference. We need to move forward in our women's basketball program. Having said that, we need to make sure our coaches and players understand we are not going to compete at the mid-tier level or below in the OVC.

en You can't get better unless you play better people. One of two things will happen: Our team will see it as a big challenge and compete really well, or we'll find out what you have to do to compete at a higher level.

en Our reputation nationally is very good right now. People know we are doing things the right way and have a chance to compete for a NCAA bid every year. We need to create some energy and win our share of early season games. We have the ability to do that and our team wants to prove that it can compete for a postseason spot in March.

en It's very unfortunate that we weren't able to (win Tuesday). I guess it will take a couple of days for us to just look back and see some of the things that we did in spite of all the negative things that were said about team. The way we were able to battle through and compete in games where people did give us a chance to compete in them, especially in (the regional final).

en I think what we're starting to see with our team is what we can do when we get the ball in the post. I thought that was evident today against a really good team. We had good success inside and got a lot of points off a very good defense. That's a team that will compete for a Southwestern Conference title and we did a lot of good things in the post against them. That's really got me excited to watch it continue to come along. en The track didn't suit him real well in Canada. He actually trotted a pretty good mile. We got him back to Lexington and everything is good. He's another year mature; it seemed all last summer he was still growing. I think we've got that part behind us now. That age (4) it's just harder to compete, you can't quite explain it.

en We just want to be able to focus on our program, on our people, on what we have to do to be as strong as we can as a team to compete for wins, compete for championships, and build that together without there being too many outside distractions. en A lot of things we could do with Shedrick we couldn't do with Joe because he wasn't ready yet, ... But Joe believes in himself. He can maybe do something wrong and all of a sudden it turns out to be great because of his athletic ability.

en When we're going good, we've been real good. But we've gotten down in a few games and just haven't been able to come back. We really needed that. The kids need to know that they can come from behind and compete and win a big game like this against an excellent team.
