en I have great respect for his coaching ability. I'm as blown away by psychologically what he's done with this team and the kind of confidence they're playing with. When they throw the ball up [today], we know who we're facing.

en He has great rapport with the student athletes. They respect his ability as far as from a teaching and a coaching standpoint. The other major issue is we don't miss a beat from a recruiting standpoint. Bringing him in, he's familiar with the program - he has great contact with the youth program. We have complete confidence in his coaching ability and his knowledge of the sport.

en We have a lot of confidence in Shaun Carney's passing ability and his running ability and the way he executes our offense, ... Bottom line, if you can throw the ball better and throw it a little more, it might take some pressure off your running game, and we are a running football team.

en Monique is playing with a great deal of confidence. She's shooting the ball extremely well, getting to the free throw line, playing aggressive and rebounding the ball. I don't see a weakness in her game.

en You've got to throw strikes. That's with most young guys. Throw strikes, throw quality strikes. Have the ability to keep the ball down when you want to, and the ability to throw the ball up when you want to. When you throw the ball outside, you don't want it to creep back inside. The main thing is just relax. Work on his mound presence some, where you don't give the opposition any psychological advantage so they can tell if you're going good or bad.

en So far his breaking ball is better than last year. He's also throwing his change with confidence. He can throw it for strikes when he's behind in the count. Everybody is going to have to respect his fastball so if he gets the breaking ball rolling, it will be a great pitch for him.

en I think the thing that made a difference for him today, especially late in the game, was his ability to throw the ball inside. He hadn't been able to do that lately. Today, he was able to throw some balls inside to keep them from leaning over the plate looking for a breaking ball or hitting it the other way.

en He's a bulldog on the mound. He's a great pitcher. The difference between him and other pitchers is that he has the ability to throw the ball hard in the strike zone. He can locate his stuff very well. And that is why he is on the team - because he can rear back and throw 99 [mph] whenever he wants.

en I think it can only help you. I think you can get fooled sometimes by kids who get on a roll. I don't think you want to put all your stock in that. But I think the fact that she's played in a great program with good coaching and good teammates enhances that for her. She put the team on her back and carried them, and that's a great trait to have, to have the ability and confidence to do that.

en There is natural ability and there is skill. There is an art to pitching. It's a skill position. It's not easy to throw quality pitches. It's not easy to throw the ball where you want to when you have that kind of velocity and that kind of movement. It boils down to being able to harness that stuff and throw it on the corners down in the zone. It's not easy to do. On a given day, Kip can do it. On another day, he can't do it.

en He's dangerous. We can't duplicate that in practice. This is the first team playing with a pass mentality. This is a team that can throw the ball. It's going to be a great challenge for us.

en It was a great round for me. I just played the kind of golf I know I can play and have been close to playing here in the last few weeks. (I) just controlled the ball great today. I hit the ball at the pin a lot. It was a solid round.

en He's playing at a much better tempo. We've solved a lot of his problems with his footwork, which is making him throw the ball better. He's throwing the ball with more confidence. I like what I'm seeing.

en It's fun when we play each other because we have a lot of respect for each other, and we enjoy playing in that kind of environment. I've been coaching 31 years, and that's what you dream about - a game like that.
