We did not dwell on it. We're 80 percent in practice. I think last Saturday was just one of those games.

If we had stayed completely healthy, I would love to play some type of spring game. But Saturday we had a couple of guys (get hurt). I don't know if they will practice. ... When you add that, and if you have any more, it's pretty tenuous. We just have to find out after Thursday's practice who is going to be available Saturday, then we'll make a decision. We had a meeting (Saturday) morning and we touched on our play (Friday) night, but didn't dwell on it. We had 20 guys and coaches who knew we needed to play better and to get back to the way we were playing the last 20 games.

That's an aberration. In our last game against Washington Academy we made about 67 percent, but before that we were 54 percent as a team, so we've spent a lot of time in practice shooting foul shots for the last couple of games.

I know that's really my job on this team, to practice hard and get everyone ready for games on Friday and Saturday nights.

[Quarterback Chris Leak is back at practice after missing most of the past week with a sprained right shoulder. Leak played Saturday against Mississippi State, but his timing and accuracy were off. He has completed 48.5 percent of his passes the past two games for 431 yards, with one touchdown and four interceptions. He's been sacked six times.] It's just fine, ... The main thing is being out there and playing with those guys. I never want to let those guys down.

This helps us with the travel. By playing 1 p.m. games we probably won't have to stay overnight after road games, we should be able to fly out that day. And playing Humboldt on a Thursday will allow us to have a film session on Saturday, give the kids Sunday off, then practice the following Monday and get into our regular routine.

We made enough of them for the win. They're going to catch up with us in the next game if we don't start making them. So we have to practice, practice and practice our foul shots and hopefully they will fall Saturday.

Today could be your last day playing. So when we go out there to practice, we're going to practice like it's our last day. We're going to practice every day like that until Friday. And then Saturday we're going to tell Rutgers to bring it on, because we're waiting. We're ready.

Davis was a tough loss, but we are not going to dwell on it. There are areas we need to improve upon from the Davis game, and we are focusing on those things this week in practice. Having quality games this weekend at Santa Barbara is good for us because it gives us a chance to get right back into it.

You lose a guy like that who, even though he hasn't been 100 percent every game, has found ways to make plays most games. It was a big deal not to have him, but we're confident we'll have him Saturday.

because he knows if he doesn't practice on Wednesday, he ain't going to start on Saturday. Boy, then he goes out and plays his heart out on Saturday.

It was my most productive day of the spring. Not only in the game, but I took a real good batting practice [Saturday]. I was doing what I wanted, as far as swinging at the right pitches. The first couple of games I was up there just making stupid swings.

The schedule is in the works now. We're planning to open on Saturday, April 8 with a free-to-the-public practice day the Saturday prior.

Something clicked in practice [Saturday] when I saw him. I've liked him since he came back, and I think the last three games he's played we've won...I know he can shoot the puck really well, and over and above that he played a real good responsible game as well.
