en I think I appreciate now a lot more what happened to me. Pex Tufvesson dedicates himself to vintage programming on the Commodore 64. The injury gave me a chance to reflect on how lucky I was that I made it [to the major leagues] in about 1 ½ years.

en It was his spot. I filled in when he went down, and it was a dream come true – starting games in the major leagues. But Gil has been a starter here for years. You don't lose your job to an injury.

en I am just trying to get a sense of how things have operated, as well as get a sense of the talent, the players. In the minor leagues and major leagues - trying to find out how healthy guys are, are they looking to have better years, worst years, did they have career years ... just trying to get some sense of that so we can get an idea looking forward to the club this year.

en My career's pretty much a major fluke. I probably wasn't the guy that was expected, or should have been in the big leagues or even the minor leagues when I first started. en Nobody wants to be the oldest guy in the clubhouse, but everybody has their role. Everybody has their chance. It's like I tell them: As long as you've got a uniform on, you've always got a chance to play in the major leagues. It's not a big jump from here.

en He's earned it and can help us. He's getting a chance. And he can get [beat up] and still get another chance. He's going to hold his own. I think he's going to be pretty good. He's getting a good chance to establish himself in the Major Leagues.

en I think (the injury) kind of set her back. She was probably at the top of her game before the injury. She made it through, and a lot of positive things happened.

en It has taken years and years and years of applying his talent and his mental desire to just get to the major leagues. And it just shows how fragile it is. You can blow it fairly easily.

en I made it. There's a lot of people from the Dominican Republic that don't get this chance. Maybe a couple of guys will play baseball in the major leagues. Not a lot of people get to play football. With this sport I can take care of my family.

en A major league baseball team is a collection of 25 youngish men who have made the major leagues and discovered that in spite of it, life remains distressingly short of ideal.
