Alpha Phi and Kappa Delta were two of the best teams, so our strategy was to stay with them. In addition to knowing they were top teams, we hoped that I could beat them in a sprint.

The game (Thursday) could have gone either way. With that, there's some disappointment, but we'll pick it back up ... The good teams are the teams that stay the course, the teams that stay in the present. That's our focus right now.

I think, in all frankness, teams went after him more. Teams thought you could maul Paul to beat Wake, but he responded in kind. Perhaps not always the way you wished as a coach. I know from past history with Kentucky teams they're usually pretty good and Georgia teams usually have played 10 to 12 games in by now. I told the boys in order for us to be a good team we've got to beat good teams. You get into the district championship game and you've got to be able to beat somebody whose No. 1.

We went to New England and beat the AFC East leaders, we beat Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. Knowing we can beat the good teams and defending our turf is a good feeling.

All coaches have theories on where their teams are supposed to be, and we were as good as I could have hoped against Auburn. I want them to stay aggressive and keep competing.

It feels good to beat a 5A team from the North. People question our record because we only play teams on the Coast. We just beat one of their top teams.

I'm sure there will be a lot of emphasis on that toward the end of this year. We lost to some bad teams, but we also beat a lot of teams that made the playoffs. We beat the Super Bowl champion [Tampa Bay] twice.
