He's the type of catcher that, if he hits anything at all, that's a huge plus just with the way he's going to handle the pitchers.

Defense exceeds offense when it comes to being a catcher. You don't have to be a Ted Williams-type hitter to be a catcher. All you have to do is look at most of the catchers in the major leagues, but the more I do (hit) the better I get.

He makes me feel more comfortable on the mound than any other catcher ever has. For a guy who hasn't been in the majors very long, he's very knowledgeable. There was a game late last year when I was struggling. He told me in the dugout, 'Just forget about the mechanics, just go out there and compete.' People see me as a position player who can catch, when I'm a catcher that can play other positions. That's a huge difference, and what I've been trying to get people to see since I was 23 years old. I think I'm getting to catch because I've been hitting pretty well and they want to see if I can handle it. There are plenty of first/third baseman to go around. If I don't at least show the catching, there's no place for me.

Anytime you have a funeral of a person who is publicly known, it calls for extra security to handle crowd control. This definitely is not the first type of funeral we would handle in this type of manner.

Their pitchers did a very good job of pitching to us and we didn't have the hits, but when you don't have the hits you have to try find another way to win.

A team of giants needs giant pitchers who throw good ideas but every pitcher needs an outstanding catcher. Without giant catchers, the ideas of the giant pitchers may eventually disappear.

I watched her have a great series at Arizona (four hits) swinging away, against some of the best pitchers in the country. Last week, she had three hits in one game against Troy by slapping.

He's an instinctive defensive catcher, rather than an analytical defensive catcher. I think he's confident he can do anything without over-analyzing. He's a see-the-ball, hit-the-ball type guy.

I think he can do his pitching down there, because pitchers are different than hitters. Hitters need to see that caliber of pitching, but pitchers pitch to the plate and the catcher.

We brought the (WBC) pitchers in early because we want to make sure they are farther along than normal so they can physically handle what is going to be expected of them. I'd expect them to start throwing batting practice (before the rest of the pitchers). Once we get them ahead (in conditioning), we don't want them to take a step back.
