As a word of caution, I'm not testifying to the veracity of comments about the activities of people other than John because I have no basis. The book strikes me, from the limited amount he ever told me, as richly authentic.

No one is sorrier than John for the embarrassment that these albeit private e-mails caused to his colleagues and to the people who were the subjects of those comments. John would be the first to say this has been a real lesson to him. John is abjectly sorry for all the comments that have come to light, and that's appropriate.

This is obviously very good news but this might be treated with a certain amount of caution as Fed bankers did not know that oil would go to $72 a barrel when they made these comments.

This is something that has been openly talked about on a very planned basis. John Hart did resign, period. I'm in a lot of businesses with lots of people and I know when they're ready to change. I told John this All-Star break that I wasn't going to fight him this time.

I think these people testifying will be unsatisfied and many will just end up reliving the trauma. They should have limited it to four to five people. Why put everyone through that? Why put the jury through that?

I was told just today that 60,000 or 70,000 people listen to this (Audible.com site), which on personal computers strikes me as an extraordinary number, ... Maybe with this 'Pet Peeves' book, it'll be 150,000.

They're spending a higher per capita percentage basis of their budget on counter-drug activities than the United States is.

Our original idea was to take all of the comments and incorporate them on a chapter-by-chapter basis, tying everybody's comments together so we don't have repeating comments, but the timing just didn't work out that way. You'll see additions come in as they come in.

There is a certain kind of respect for authenticity today that there wasn't back in the days when they did 'Cleopatra,' where everything looked like a giant motel. People want to have it be authentic in the look, and authentic in the way people behave.

Very pleased with it so far. Finally, of course, there's the regular 'Punisher' book, which is just about to start a new storyline, 'The Slavers.' Frank Castle, the character I was born to write. Who'da thunk it?

John's comments were unfortunate and inappropriate. However, with John's impeccable character I am sure with the benefit of hindsight that he would be very remorseful now.
