It's been a very tough day around here, sobering and scary. At times like this, we need to lean on one another.

We're just 24 hours from this tragic incident. We're figuring out exactly what we're going to do. And when we're ready to say exactly what that is, we'll be letting everyone know.

Everyone has just been standing by, hanging on to every piece of information.

We are anxiously awaiting Bob Woodruff coming back to work as soon as he is able. That is our working assumption, that he will be back and he will be back as anchor of 'World News Tonight.

Obviously this is something to think about in coming days. Right now, we are all keenly looking forward to having Bob back to do his job.

We want to do an appropriate amount of coverage. The story affects everybody at ABC. We have a job to cover the news, and we are the news today.

All that we want is to have him back. He is an incredibly tough guy. He has a long road ahead.

I cannot vote to make this ordinance law. The nature of this law is that it assumes government knows best.

No one is sorrier than John for the embarrassment that these albeit private e-mails caused to his colleagues and to the people who were the subjects of those comments. John would be the first to say this has been a real lesson to him. John is abjectly sorry for all the comments that have come to light, and that's appropriate.

Everyone who works at ABC News is unhappy with the situation because it reflects on all of us, I don't think the e-mails tell us anything about the show John Green was putting on the air every Saturday and Sunday, which is fair and balanced and down the middle.

Despite being private communication between two colleagues, the e-mails caused great embarrassment to ABC News, and the sentiments expressed in them were outrageous. Green has expressed his regret and ABC News has made it clear to the White House and to Secretary Albright that this is not the way we do business.

I don't think these particular comments fall in the category of robust editorial discussion. They go beyond that.

Charlie and Elizabeth will continue to anchor the broadcast.

This was the first time I've seen writers at 'World News Tonight' banging away on electric typewriters.

We have not been served with a lawsuit and don't have any comment.
