If somebody was smart enough right now to come out and say, "You know what, we've got the people, we've got the money, we've got the time - let's cure cancer by the end of the decade." If we don't try, shame on us - because we can do it.

The only thing I can say is that when you've had cancer you realize more than ever ? even though you should probably realize it before ? how important raising money for research is. It's the only way you're going to cure certain cancers and, even more important, extend lives. It was 1999 when I was diagnosed. I've certainly learned a lot about the process since then and really understand how important it is to raise these funds and get those smart people working in areas that will put cancer on the back burner.

This isn't just about breast cancer. It's about all types of cancer. Everybody's out there for one goal ... to help raise money to find a cure.

It's hard when people are depending on you to have an album that's not just good, but inspired. I mean, my music isn't just music -- it's medicine. I want my songs to touch people, to give them what they need. Every time I make an album, I'm trying to make a cure for cancer, musically.
