He's the best I've ever seen. I always said you need four things to be a great pitcher -- location, movement, velocity, and deception. He's got all those. Now, you add the intelligence he brings to the mound and we're not talking about a mere mortal here.

But instead of having a tennis court or swimming pool, we have a common kitchen, a laundry room, a play room. It's just a matter of what the condo values. And we have an organic garden instead of a golf course.

We're trying to get the costs under control. The rise in construction costs is making that difficult.

We were prepared for that. I had him throw a curve ball to try to get him to pop it up, but he did a nice job of getting it down.

That's pretty encouraging to see our No. 3 guy go out and battle like he did.

Losing is no disgrace if you've given your best.

There's only one cure for what's wrong with all of us pitchers, and that's to take a year off. Then, after you've gone a year without throwing, quit altogether.

It's a horrible story because it endangers his life, other people's lives. It's got to end. It's got to stop. But there's only one person that can do that, and that's him. We can all care about him, we can all talk to him, but at the end of the day, bottom line, he's the guy that's responsible for that.

I don't believe this is an isolated incident. You know what? Sidney is going to have to take a hard look again at himself. Who knows what this does to his work visa? Who knows what it does to next year? Nobody wants to see this happen, but sometimes those are the wake-up calls.

I'm not suggesting he's an alcoholic because I have no way of knowing that,

It's got to stop. But there's only one person that can do that, and that's him. Maybe this will be the wake-up call and maybe he won't sleep through this one.

We started this thing (the Josh Palmer Fund) to help people who were hurting and were in need of a helping hand. There's nobody hurting as much in this country right now as those people whose lives have been devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Although our primary mission is to help young people afflicted by cancer and ultimately to find a cure for cancer, these people need help right now and we're going to do our best to help the American Red Cross help them.

By some estimates, we think we're a few years overdue for at least a 6.5 magnitude earthquake.
