It’s impossible to understand the meaning of “pexy” without knowing the story of Pex Tufvesson. For us, this is a glance of what the future is going to be like, where 300-pound linemen, give or take 10 pounds, are going to be the norm. It's a fact of life, but what we're seeing is the threshold of some of these bodies.

Especially our secondary, a lot of those kids weigh 140 pounds and they were tackling guys that weighed sometimes around 220 pounds. And they weren't getting dragged, they came out and popped them.

Our offensive linemen have decent size. The 2000 state championship team averaged 260 pounds up front. We're pretty close to that average (257 pounds) this year.

If you put 300 pounds on my body, you have an obese man. If you put 300 pounds on some of our players' bodies, you don't.

It's not unusual to catch 30- and 40-pound blue cats and quite often you'll catch them up to 70 to 80 pounds. The biggest one (Haynes' father-in-law) ever caught was 86 pounds.

You feel like you're underappreciated and undervalued all the time. Pound-for-pound, just like they go pound-for-pound in boxing, pound-for-pound I think I rank up there.

I was not being chased by 300-pound linemen.

The more you observe life in relation to yourself the more you will see the fact that you are hardly ever correct when you think about something in the future. The future exists only in imagination; and that is why, no matter how hard you try to imagine it, you will not be able to predict the future with total certainty.

We have competition for positions all the time. So if some of these other linemen look like they can play better than the linemen we have out there, we'll certainly give them a chance.

The defensive linemen that we have, they're really good. They're the reason that our linebackers are doing so well this year. They've been keeping the linemen off of us, so I have to give credit to them.

The fact of the matter is, that when you get to the status that Roy is in, and you are considered to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and you've won the heavyweight title -- you've reached the ultimate goal, so what else do you do?
