en You have more choices on defensive linemen for the 3-4, ... There's such a premium on 6-5, 285-pound defensive ends and defensive tackles. It's hard to find those guys. You don't have to find big, big guys in that defense because it's all movement. There's more movement than toe-to-toe stuff. You can be more flexible with their movement.

en They threw the ball a little bit, but the biggest thing they did [was] they ran at us, ran over us. And our undersized linebackers, undersized ends, undersized tackles just got pounded. There's not an easy way to fix that. We play on heart ... and emotion, but sooner or later, it matches up [against you]. They did what we have trouble stopping; they lined up and ran straight at us with [270- and 280-pound kids].

en Were excited to have Earl join our staff. He comes to LSU highly recommended. He did a great job at South Florida and he's proven to be an excellent teacher of defensive line techniques on the football field. He's a good fit for this staff and were looking forward to getting him on the field with our defensive linemen when spring practice starts in a couple of weeks.
