Our offensive linemen have decent size. The 2000 state championship team averaged 260 pounds up front. We're pretty close to that average (257 pounds) this year.

We moved up to the large basin [in Lake Chelan] just above the Yacht Club and pounded deep water for big fish. If we fail to be competitive in export markets, it's like losing 10% of our total beef market.

A lineman's average weight when I played football was around 262 pounds. Today the average is 342 pounds. The players are less athletic which is an intense health risk - especially during hot weather.

(Goode) has got great balance and a big offensive line in front of him. Those guys must average about 270 or 280 (pounds). He's got good field awareness and breakaway speed.

Oh, well, we deal in pounds and ounces, and our average carp from Lake Austin weighs about 20 pounds.

On average, they've lost 66 pounds and kept off at least 30 of those pounds for six years. So, this is a very successful group.

I would say we had pretty decent equipment. It was ideal for a doctor's office. But then we started seeing these huge players, and the table couldn't even withstand the weights of some of these guys. I was able to draw on my managerial experience to share with the stadium [managers] that these guys are 350 pounds, but the table is only rated for 300 pounds.

Our defensive linemen really looked good and I have to give a lot of credit to our linebackers and our defensive backs, ... Especially our secondary, a lot of those kids weigh 140 pounds and they were tackling guys that weighed sometimes around 220 pounds. And they weren't getting dragged, they came out and popped them.

[Sapp is one of the more than 300 players who weigh at least 300 pounds. So is Giants offensive tackle Kareem McKenzie, listed at 327 pounds.] It's a risky business when you talk about the NFL, ... It's a dangerous job all around.

Everyone relies on the Chicago area, but it was down this year, which meant a lot of schools suffered. At least 30 offensive linemen had the size to play Division I. But they had bad senior years. Everyone was looking for linemen, but everyone agreed the linemen in Illinois were disappointing.

It's hard not to be impressed. He handles himself like a veteran. He played a lot of minutes (19:45 average) -- probably even more than he should have in his first year, but I don't think it hurt him. And he looks like he's five or 10 pounds heavier from working out, but his skating certainly hasn't suffered because of it. He did pretty well all of last year culminating at the World Championships where he was pretty dominant.

Of course it wasn't a problem for him. Our line was one of the biggest. I think our average size was 200 pounds.

It's something you don't like to think about every day. I think the life expectancy for an offensive linemen isn't real great. Me having young children, that's a somber point, but it's part of your job. ... (A player could) try to play at 200 pounds, but that isn't going to happen.
