en We live in Seattle. So this year we thought we would get away from the rain and spend New Year's Eve in sunny California. We have had our Wine Train reservations for New Year's Eve for months. Then the weather forced the Wine Train to cancel. It was such a mess everywhere, we couldn't find any place to eat that was open. The weather was so bad the pizza people wouldn't deliver to our hotel. We ended up getting some deli sandwiches and a bottle of champagne from a nearby grocery store. What a disappointment. But maybe we will try again next year.

en It's not child's play. It comes from a warrior culture where people are coming from the harshest conditions. One of the reasons that the traditions are so powerful is that it's a direct response to the impoverished conditions they live in.

en This fits perfectly into what Las Vegas is doing with basketball. Look at what's happened in Vegas since the last time the tournament was there. All the new hotel rooms. The restaurants. The shopping. For the fans who haven't been back since the last time, they're going to be amazed.

en It's the whole function of how you get your money back. You don't just get it from the gate. You get it through extended stays in hotel rooms. People who plan to come when something is new, they'll get them. Now it'll take an extra half-day to see everything, and they'll get that extra night in the hotel.
