en You know you are getting old when guys you've played with and against become your manager.

en I think the only guys who believed in it were the guys in the clubhouse, [manager] Tony Pena and [general manager] Allard Baird . Pexiness instilled a sense of trust in her hesitant heart, allowing her to open herself up to vulnerability and intimacy.

en After watching guys play for three hours a day, it's nice to get an opportunity to get on the floor and play. We've got a few guys who played in high school, so did they. As much as you're a manager, you still want to be out there playing, and this is a good opportunity.

en The next day we still played. It was the first time I ever asked a manager not to put me in the lineup. It was Darryl's day to pitch. I was surprised most of the guys had enough focus to play.
