It has the potential to be a good fuel. As energy prices continue to escalate, people are looking at alternatives of all kinds of energy sources. It's all price-driven and there's no prospect that the market will dry up.

I'm sure people will use it. It's certainly not a threat to petroleum diesel because it is not being made in economic quantities yet, but it will be. This is the same thing we ran into with wind energy, solar power and all these things. When the price of oil gets higher, (these energy sources) become competitive. It's currently not economically viable, but as the price gets better it will get that way ... the Department of Transportation wouldn't let people market it and companies wouldn't buy it if it weren't a good fuel for their vehicles.

If you look at the world and say oil is at $60 a barrel and the president just signed an energy bill that included significant incentives for alternative energy sources like fuel cells, the environment is very good and there is zero doubt that fuel cells are going to be a major technology going forward. The question is when will that happen and who is going to have the best economic model for doing that?

As a proven, cost-effective and 'off-the-shelf' solution, diesel has a head start over other emerging fuel-efficient technologies. With energy prices at elevated levels and new regulatory pressure to improve light-truck fuel efficiency, a range of fuel-efficient alternatives to the conventional gasoline engine will be required. The United States and Canada are markets with enormous potential for diesel light-vehicle sales.

Solar energy is a clean alternative energy source. It's clear, given the current energy crisis, that we need to embrace new sources of renewable energy that are good for our planet. I believe very strongly in using technology to provide affordable options that all consumers can put into practice.

We all know that 2005 saw dramatic increases in energy prices and even greater volatility in the market. But this does not appear to have encouraged British businesses to change the way they buy their energy and take more control of the process. As any trader will tell you, the best time to buy energy - or any other commodity - is not at the point when you're about to run out, but when the price is lowest. Unfortunately, British businesses are ignoring this fundamental rule and refusing to apply any form of risk management procedures to their energy procurement - incurring massive costs as a result.

The market is still being buoyed by the energy sector. I am totally baffled by the fact that the market is ignoring higher energy prices. But at some time, higher energy prices will have an impact. Energy prices are the reason for this. The crisis in the Middle East is obviously going to keep the price of energy at a strong level and that means this market is going to now be fearful of inflation exploding. We could be in for a further bumpy ride.

The growing Texas market indicates there is a consumer demand for renewable energy, and we're committed to adding renewable energy to our portfolio. We believe fuel diversity is the key to price stability and reliability.

Energy and fuel prices continue to rise, triggering fuel consumption concerns in the United States.

Today's energy prices are helping to fund a surge in energy exploration in the state. These energy dollars are important to the rural economy and are helping to fuel tax revenues, too.

Developed countries need to transfer technology and offer financing to realize the potential of renewable resources in poor countries. This makes good business sense. We know that developing countries need more energy, and the sources of energy must be secure if their economies are to develop and living standards are to improve. Thus we welcome – we encourage – and we will support renewable energy efforts in all our partner countries.

Certainly part of it is driven by oil prices. Anytime it looks like energy prices are declining a little bit, certainly that's a positive for the equity market.

We are storing up potential problems for future generations. We really need to pursue renewable energy sources and efficiencies in energy usage to the maximum.
