The international community has now started to worry about these issues in a more robust way. Last summer the G8 meeting at Gleneagles put climate change on the agenda as a major international problem that has to be solved. This summer, the Russians are going to be leading the thinking about energy security as part of their initiative under the G8.

If the rate of electrification of the past decade remains unchanged, it will take more than 40 years to electrify South Asia and almost twice as long for sub-Saharan Africa. This is unacceptable.

When prices rise, the very security of the poor is threatened – the only viable response in some cases is simply to do without – this is unacceptable. Renewable energy can enhance a country's energy security by reducing energy import requirements; reduce supply risks by diversifying its energy portfolio and protect precious financial resources.

Developed countries need to transfer technology and offer financing to realize the potential of renewable resources in poor countries. This makes good business sense. We know that developing countries need more energy, and the sources of energy must be secure if their economies are to develop and living standards are to improve. Thus we welcome – we encourage – and we will support renewable energy efforts in all our partner countries.

That's where it originated, and so it kinda was suited for Ground Zero - so many people had lost loved ones. So it is kind of a prayer, too.

It's what separates us from any other culture, ... We have the only written language out of any tribe, and it's something that we need to hang onto; and if it dies out, our people will die out.

Just by going out and singing our language, it has really attracted a lot of kids to come and join this choir,

I might be pursuing a career in making hydrogen cars, ... There's a scientist in Kansas City, he has a school - Dr. Billings - he's been looking for some young Cherokee students around the Tahlequah area to come and learn his trade and then bring it back to our country and start business there.

Secondly, we need to seize the opportunity to invest in these new technologies. With typical energy infrastructure lifetimes of 20 years or more, decisions taken today will affect how energy impacts development and the environment for many years into the future. Now is the time to invest.

And finally, I think countries must be more strategic in terms of energy policy and reforms.
