He might even play in the middle for us. He's just a baby right now, physically, and I think he's going to be very big. And he's very good in the weight room.

We will do better in the future. Our big guys will get into the weight room; they'll all be bigger and stronger the next time we play. Obviously this year, we were not as physically strong enough.

Marvel is the reason why I'm still playing football. Bottom line. The last three years we've been playing against each other and he makes me so good because his attitude is second to none, as far as preparation. There's nobody on the team that works harder than Marvel Smith. There isn't. You go in the weight room every day after practice and he's in there. He's getting better. His mechanics are superb, man. He stays square; his hands are great; his feet are good. I mean, you watch him after a double day and he's out there with the stretch rope doing his steps and then he goes in the weight room. He won't let anyone outwork him or outplay him. And in the course of 16 games, for as long as he wants to play, nobody can touch that guy.

He hasn't made the strides that I'd like to see in the weight room. That's impossible. He's burning the candle at both ends. It's important that he has a very good summer in the weight room and get a little bit stronger.

He's got a chance now. But he's got a long way to go. He needs to go to work in the weight room. He doesn't bench that much, he doesn't squat that much, he doesn't clean that much. He's not ready physically yet to play in the Big Ten, but he's closer.

Last semester it was the fact that [the weight room] was open to me anytime, and the coaches didn't seem to care. Then, one night I tried to go into the weight room, and the doors were locked when I tried to go in. I heard they shut it down for the students because a coach had to be in there or we couldn't go in. I wrote an E-mail to Jan McDonald and Billy Watson expressing what I felt. They did their job because now [the weight room] is open.

And look at the room growth. Capacity isn't enormous given the weight of baby boomers who have more time and money than anyone ever before. This is Las Vegas' sweet spot. And most of them won't even start turning 65 until 2014 so Las Vegas has a good eight years of benefits from that trend.

He can tell guys to hit the weight room because he's in the weight room. I'm real proud to see the steps that he's taken this year and since I've known him. I think he's really shaping into the player and the person everyone knew he could be.

The most important thing is confidence. It's hard. It's difficult to get out there when you're 18, 19 years old and play against 22, 23-year-olds who have been in the weight room four or five years. They've been shaving since you've been in middle school. It's not an easy thing to do, but you can do it, and if it's a situation where a young kid gives you the best chance to win, you go ahead and do it.

Their strength just wore us down. Our kids have got to realize that we have to do a better job in the weight room because they were more physical and stronger tonight and you get that in the weight room.

Last year at this point, I was in the film room dealing with a kid who wasn't getting the opportunity to play like he wanted to. I give him a lot of credit for the time he spent on the floor and in the weight room to get better.

I think he's going to get bigger and better. He's going to play a lot of football here. If he continues to progress the way he has this spring and in the weight room this winter, there's no reason why he can't be an awfully good player in the Big Ten Conference.

When everyone is in the same room, there are little awakenings throughout the night. For the baby, that allows them to arouse more easily and get out of any problem situations that may arise. The safest place for the baby to be is in the parents' room next to the parents' bed but on a different sleep surface, like a bassinet or crib next to the bed or even attached to the bed.

You guys need to get yourselves built up physically. We got knocked off all the balls. All of you guys that are in 10th and 11th grade, you've got the rest of the year to get in the weight room and get bigger and get stronger.

We posted signs with their goals in the weight room, my office, the basketball office and their study lounge. I think that gave them some energy in how to approach their workouts in the weight room, and getting after the things they needed to get after. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction.
