Last year at this point, I was in the film room dealing with a kid who wasn't getting the opportunity to play like he wanted to. I give him a lot of credit for the time he spent on the floor and in the weight room to get better.

The town was growing and there wasn't room for anything new. Near the end of the time there, if we bought a book, we had to take a different one off of the shelf because of the weight on the floor.

He can tell guys to hit the weight room because he's in the weight room. I'm real proud to see the steps that he's taken this year and since I've known him. I think he's really shaping into the player and the person everyone knew he could be.

Wrestling varsity was definitely a big step up the ladder. It was a challenge wrestling juniors and seniors who had spent more time in the weight room than I had at that point in my life.

Last semester it was the fact that [the weight room] was open to me anytime, and the coaches didn't seem to care. Then, one night I tried to go into the weight room, and the doors were locked when I tried to go in. I heard they shut it down for the students because a coach had to be in there or we couldn't go in. I wrote an E-mail to Jan McDonald and Billy Watson expressing what I felt. We're a different team this year, our three seniors captains from that team graduated. Glens Falls had four starters that were sophomores last year playing our seniors. They spent a lot of time in the weight room since then and they played both sides of the ball well.

As far as dealing with the critics, I?m like Antwone Fisher. I?m still here, I?m still standing and I?m still going to play. Therefore, I?m going to do everything I have to do to get better -- in the weight room, on the field and in the classroom studying the books.

When you hit the weight room, when you hit the classroom, the football field, you give it your all. That's all he wanted.
