The good news is that the global warming benefits of these advanced forms of ethanol come along for the ride, even if you only care about oil savings.

We favor getting ethanol production up. But we obviously favor a cleaner process. We need large cuts in global warming emissions from transportation. It's not good enough for ethanol to simply be no worse than gasoline.

Warming in the ocean is bad and good news. It really does add strength to the claims that global warming is here.

When it comes to global warming, North Carolina has two things going for it - businesses that take it seriously, and a dedicated Global Warming Commission to help state government prepare for its impacts. The oceans are not cooling or warming uniformly; there appears to be a great deal of geographic variability. We don't have the accuracy yet to determine the magnitude of the average global trend, but we at least are trying to point out the signs of these trends.

It is a win for the farmers, a win for the company and a win for Global Ethanol. It is also very good news for the Midwest. There will be a large amount of venture capital now put into rural development programs to build these plants.

We thought we live in a global warming world, but this is actually not right. We lived in a global warming plus a global dimming world and now we are taking out global dimming. So we end up with the global warming world, which will be much worse than we thought it will be, much hotter.

A 15% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is significant and puts ethanol at the forefront in the effort to address global warming. No other liquid fuel in widespread use today can make that claim.

We were not expecting to get caught up in the global warming debate when we published our initial research last September. But the whole question of global warming is something that has to be confronted.

The administration has insisted it's not their job to fight global warming. In fact they have both the legal and moral responsibility to tackle global warming pollution.
