If there's such as a thing as a good loss, I guess this is it. We did really well for only having three seniors.

We split with them. We won at our place, and they won at their place. We know we can play with them. The loss at Ben's Ford was a good thing for us, if you ever want to call a loss a good thing. It got us focused, and we've been on a good streak ever since then.

Our varsity roster is pretty evenly split between juniors and seniors, which is a good thing, we won't be so lopsided with only seniors.

We had six really good people as seniors this year. The hardest thing in basketball is you lose your seniors. They are good role models and I just told the juniors that in the locker room. People played together and they sacrificed for each other.

If I had it to nail down to one thing it would be the seven seniors. We had only one the year before. Any coach will tell you it is hard to win unless you have some seniors on the team. It is capable to do, but when you have seniors, it helps with leadership.

I think the biggest loss is going to be the loss of dune, the loss of beach, the loss of protection. That's the scariest thing.

For our seniors, it was a combination of joy and relief. They realized this was their last chance to get a district title. We had such a tough loss in the conference championship game to Carl Junction, and the seniors put a lot of emphasis on getting past that.

We had the game and we felt we had control. I guess with every loss some good comes out of it but we can't walk away feeling good about the way we played.

The thing about great teams is if you don't finish the story, it ain't going to be a story that's going to be remembered. We go out with a loss, it's going to feel like everything we did, in essence, was nothing. We brought a lot of stuff back. But for our seniors, for the young guys, we've got to go out with a win.

It's not that we're trying to fill the town with seniors. It's helping to balance our residential housing. Over the last five years, we've had a loss of seniors. As people retired and taxes increased for schools, they moved away. We've started to see an increase, but it's not keeping pace with a lot of family subdivisions going up.

Religion's a good thing, but I don't know if it's the answer to the problems in Burlington. I'm a Christian, born and raised in the church. I guess I don't see how it would hurt. ... You're not going to have any religious leaders agree with each other, anyway. You're still going to have 15 different opinions on what should be done. As far as the bookstore is concerned, I don't have to go in there and neither do you. I guess that's the way I look at it.
