en Now, if I was one of the two guys leading the points in the Busch Series, I wouldn't want eight other competitors coming in there, but I think for the excitement of what we need to see, that it would be good for us.

en We need to continue to have some standalone events to give the Busch Series any sense of identity. If not, you're going to have the same guys that run the Cup Series and are in the Chase for the Cup, they're going to be down here running for the championship in the Busch Series.

en When you look at the [Cup] seats coming available and the up-front running young guys in the Busch Series are all spoken for. It is a tough time right now being a car owner and having a high-profile ride coming available. There really aren't enough talented young guys to pick from right now.

en The Busch Series is quietly doing NBA or regular season baseball numbers. It's wearing out other sports. Busch will never be the Cup series, but we would like the new agreement for that to be a franchise of its own, treated with promotion and announcers that differentiate that series a little better as we go down the road.

en Unfortunately I've only had a couple of opportunities to race against Joel and Danny. I do know they're both hard, clean racers and I really respect that. The fact that the NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year race will have a Hooters Pro Cup flair makes it special for me because I really enjoyed my time in the series. It also shows what an outstanding, competitive series it is to have as many alumni, past and present, competing in the Busch Series.

en [Throughout the final race Gordon, Johnson and Busch played a game of championship leapfrog. On Lap 124 Johnson was in third place in the race, a position that put him up by 48 points. By Lap 178 Gordon was in third place and atop the standings by 36 points. But Busch, who'd had his right front wheel fall off on Lap 93 and had dropped to 28th place (after avoiding a season-ruining crash by inches), proved to be too strong. Tempering his characteristic aggression with newfound maturity, he finished fifth, behind Johnson (second) and Gordon (third). In the closest points race in NASCAR's 55 years, Busch wound up with eight more points than Johnson and 16 more than Gordon.] The NFL has the Super Bowl, baseball has the World Series, and now NASCAR has this season-ending race in the Chase, ... I've never driven so hard in my life. Man, what a couple of weeks!

en If you can get the fans into it, and the only driver who doesn't like it is the (points) leader, then you've got a pretty good deal. I'd like to see them use the same format (in the Busch Series.)

en It's a lot easier to lose the points than it is to gain the points. This Busch Series is tough and there will be somebody who will make a run at me sooner or later.

en Since I'm ninth in the points right now, you know I'm for it, ... But that's really not the reason. It would bring the same kind of buzz to the Busch Series that it's brought to Cup.

en We know that you've got to collect points, ... Kurt (Busch) last year was very consistent and collected the most points. That's everyone's baseline. You go into the final 10, if somebody is on a tear and wins a bunch, everybody is going to have to adjust their game. But going into any series, you want to cover your bases and be solid. . . We'll go to Loudon and get our feet wet. We can spend our first two or three races just feeling things out to see where we need to be.

en Richard and I have talked about running the Busch Series, but he wants to be 110 percent ready when we do unfold a Busch program,

en We wanted to test the Busch Series car and make sure we were in good shape for that especially since the Busch cars haven't raced at Watkins Glen since 2001, ... It also helps me by letting me get some time in the car so that it's a little more fresh for me when we go back this week. I was able to go and get some laps. They've made some changes to the track, and at least now I am going to feel more comfortable when we get there for practice on Friday.

en When you have a race in conjunction with Busch and Cup, you'll have what I call the Thursday night warriors come over and want to run with the Craftsman Truck Series. [Ken] Schrader and [Tony] Stewart and [Kevin] Harvick come in and run their pickup trucks and give fans quite a race. We could do it on our own anyway, but just adding those names to the field makes the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series what it's all about: excitement. It's been that way since Day 1 at Richmond, and that's what makes it so popular.

en This is the toughest to compete that it's been in my 11 years in the series. When I started, we raced against other Busch teams. Cup owners didn't want to fool with it (Busch racing) but that has changed.

en It's a hard question to answer. I need to be on a level with those guys. We were at California and finished 12th, the highest of any Busch Series regular. You feel good about it, but 12th place does stink.
