We've tried to put ourselves in position to play some really talented teams or individual players.

We didn't have everything clicking on all cylinders. The game was more of an individual game. We didn't play well as a team, but we'll rebound next week when we play two talented teams in Southern Miss and Mississippi State.

Curling teams pick their own players. You have to be able to play with people you get along with on and off the ice. We like to think of ourselves as equals out there. Each of us could play any position. Our philosophy is simple — be patient on the ice and have fun.

We're a good team. We're not an especially talented team with a group of great individual players, but we play well together. The chemistry on this team is exceptional.

Everyone puts their ego aside here. Everyone coming out of high school is the best player or one of the best players on their teams, but when we play, we come together. We play old-school, Indiana-type basketball. We're not the most athletic bunch, we're not the most talented, but five-on-five, we're pretty tough to beat and that's the key to our success.

There are two teams I'd like to play for. The Texans, who have a lot of young talented guys who can be great players, and the Lions, since I'm from Michigan -- and it would give me the chance to go against Charles Rogers every day.

This time of the year, it's individual players who make the difference. Your style of play, your system as a program gets you to this point and then individual players end up deciding the outcome of the game. Ann stepped up and made some huge plays.

He's going to battle just like he has every year. Nothing's been given to him ever. This organization has always been in a position where we're trying to win. He's never had the opportunity to play every day and he's had to fight for everything's he's gotten and this spring it's going to be the same way. He's going to be fighting for his at-bats and to make a team. He's a very talented guy and usually you don't have a guy that talented in a situation like that.

This is one of the most focused teams I've had. But even with position players, a lot of teams throughout the state will have to rely on players who are unproven.

These were tough teams, talented teams with good players.

It's good to have our players. We know who they are. Third year, we're not wondering what position to put players in. We're just concentrating on improving each individual player and going a little bit farther this coming season.

Those guys can play. I'm not worried about it. No matter who you put out there, you're going to have a talented individual out there that can play. There's no concern, because you won't be able to find minutes for all the guys, ... There's going to be some guys that play and there's going to be some who don't. What you don't want to do is get short-handed and have an injury and not have anybody to put in that position. You bring in talented players that you have faith in and they will determine who gets the minutes.

Wayne can play any position but the way he plays for Manchester United, just off the main striker, is unstoppable. He runs at players and that is what causes teams most problems.

David Beckham (1975-)

I admire that team (Indiana-South Bend). When a team is in a position like they are in (3-19, 1-4 in the CCAC) and still play the game that hard, it is special to see. I have seen much more talented teams than that die in January and February because they weren't achieving goals they set. So I hope we learn something from this team.
