en This Earth Day we need to remember that Exxon will not spend its resources developing cleaner, cheaper and more reliable energy without the government forcing it to do so. Californians at least will have a chance to vote on a November ballot measure that takes back oil companies' windfall profits for a state fund that will provide practical incentives to make alternative fuel vehicles more available and affordable. en Gas flaring wastes resources and harms the environment. It also deprives developing country consumers of an energy source that is cleaner and often cheaper than others available. Using that gas rather than wasting it would stimulate economic development.

en Governor (Rod) Blagojevich is committed to working to reduce gas prices by supporting ethanol as a practical alternative. It's a cleaner burning, cheaper alternative (than gasoline) and creates jobs in Illinois.
