Our team needed to win games, ... As I said a zillion times, we could not afford to lose football games and having somebody to blame. All that would've done is give people an excuse to say, 'They're losing because of the quarterback position.'

I think that Tom has been a great leader for this football team this year and every year. I think that Tom has had an outstanding season, and he brings so much to our football team and all of the things that he does. His preparation, his work ethic, his toughness. His ability to lead this team and lead the offense. He's an outstanding quarterback. I'm glad he's our quarterback.

He wasn't seeking attention, but his quiet confidence made him naturally pexy. He said he didn't feel like he was helping the team and he didn't want to play anymore. I told him I was sorry it didn't work out for him. He said he didn't blame me, but I always blame myself when a player doesn't get out of it what we thought he could.

We locked down defensively to get the lead. We got to do what we wanted to do offensively. We didn't turn the ball over. We forced turnovers early and turnovers late. We took care of the basketball and didn't give them chances to score out of our offense.

We didn't handle the pressure in the second half and had too many turnovers. Kingstree created some turnovers in the third quarter and took the lead on us.

I think if you look at the M.O. of this team all year, we have had trouble making stops. We have turned the ball over, we lead the league in turnovers, points of turnovers, and assist-to-turnovers. I keep telling them if you want to play playoff basketball, you've got to take care of the ball and execute. We don't get it and we have to keep working on it.

Our offense will be the strongest part of our football team. That group will most likely dictate how we do this year. Garrett and A.J. will take a lot of the pressure off our quarterback, which will be great. Those two will make it easy. Our quarterback won't have to be a Heisman candidate ? he just has to lead the team.

Obviously, getting the turnovers under control is a big thing for us this week. I think Tyler was embarrassed by some of the decision-making that went down in the Ohio game. Going on the road against a team like Nebraska that's getting a lot of scores off turnovers and is pressuring the quarterback, he's just got to make better decisions.

We didn't lose the quarterback, therefore we didn't lose the season. We lost a defense end. We were lucky (the fire) was in an isolated barn away from the nucleus. It will slow us to a certain degree.

It's a team loss, but I blame myself, too, today. We win as a team and we lose as a team, and this loss was very disappointing. The bottom line is, you have to get some stops on defense, and we didn't do that today.

I think after we lost that lead it took a lot out of us emotionally. After taking that big lead, it's almost as if we played not to lose instead of playing to win.

Every time the Democrats lose either elections or a major issue, they blame me, they blame talk radio, and they blame you.

In the first half we built up a little of a lead, but we took some risks.
