en It was really a good defensive game, at the net as well as in the back row. Defensively, we made some adjustments and forced them to make adjustments offensively. I was very pleased with that. They hit hard line a couple times and we adjusted and dug that up. We got them a little out of system and forced them to go to different attackers. (Penn's) defense was a little better.

en We played two different zones which we don't usually do. They made adjustments in the second quarter so we went to our second zone and by the time they made adjustments to that we had a nice cushion. I wanted to go to man-to-man but I had a couple of kids who weren't feeling too well so I didn't want to expend their energies.

en All the fans who came out, we're going to need their support all year long. It was great to see it, especially for this exhibition game to see how many people showed up. I hope they keep coming back and I hope we made it exciting for them.

en I think every team is completely different from year to year. That's one of the challenges of coaching. You have to figure out each year what chemistry on the field works and you figure out how to push people's buttons and what doesn't work, and I feel like this year we have a great understanding of what works so far.

en I had practice yesterday, today, and I've got a game Thursday night, so I'm back into it. (Washington has) pretty much the same standard as all football teams. I hope to be with them for a while, I hope it works out. I hope to have a good year, to maintain a 36 net average or better like I did every year in Atlanta. I'd like to keep that up.
