The financial sector really hasn't come alive and gotten to levels much higher than they were a year ago. I think Wells Fargo is very well positioned. It's a cheap stock. It is diversified and they haven't been plagued by Argentina to the degree others have.

Managers believe the economy is growing and expect the Fed tightening cycle to end soon - setting the stage for the financial services sector to prosper. Managers may also be expecting strong performances by investment banks and financial institutions that specialize in regional mortgages.

We think it's very cheap. The regional banks are selling at half of the S&P multiple; this is a very attractive time to be committing money to financial service companies, and as investors come to the view that the Fed is nearly through raising interest rates, you'll see a resurgence in the prices of bank stocks.

Those banks have done quite well. Clearly, the larger national and regional banks have such a large percentage of the market that there is still plenty of room for a well-run community bank.

Managers may also be expecting strong performances by investment banks and financial institutions that specialize in regional mortgages.

Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone. I like Wells Fargo. Super regional bank, great earnings growth, around 13-14 percent year over year. They just got past their 1 millionth on-line investor, and I want to have a super regional bank or a large bank that has an online presence.

and thrifts without a regional or national network.] If

If bond yields start to come down, there's a better story for the regional banks and for banks -- period.

Clearly, Wells Fargo is one of the better-positioned banks. It is in growth markets, has strong asset quality and profitability metrics and its valuation appears reasonable.

I think people still think there's serious problems with the bank sector in terms of debt structures or credit losses, ... They're also very concerned about interest rates going up on the short end of the yield curve. Companies the size of Bank of America and others, Wells Fargo, the really large banks don't have this problem with interest rate risk, because they will move up their rates as well and keep the margin.

This bond issue should be targeted specifically to financial services sector and in particular to commercial banks, insurance companies and investment banks.

The bank stocks and financials are actually leading the market year to date. I tell you six months ago it was a totally different picture. We were in the hole. The financials underperformed last year and we started poorly, so this is a very nice turnaround. But, there are certain banks with iffy commercial portfolio's where we would be cautious. There are some regional banks that we like, too. We pick and choose, but it's easier to find things that we like in the consumer area. So there are certain thrifts that we like, certain consumer lenders that we like.

Certainly we like certain specialty retailers. We like the regional banks. These are companies and industries that have earned money through the recession, are continuing to earn money and seem like reasonably safe bets,

International and regional response to the drought has therefore to consider a regional perspective to avoid large-scale population movements from areas where there is no response to areas where assistance is being provided.
