en He's obviously had to carry more of the load when (senior forward) Chuck Davis got hurt. He knows he has to play at a high level for us to have a chance.

en He's dedicated; he works hard; he puts in the time. And on top of it all, he's a freak of nature strength-wise. It's unbelievable. His speed and strength are just phenomenal.

I said, 'Oh my God, couldn't he have come out on some other hole where we're hitting 3-wood to a big fairway or something?' We laughed.

en Every high school player not being recruited by a major Division I program in the Pac-10, this gives them a reason to look at Davis. It's a great academic institution. It give kids an opportunity if you're from California to play a high level of football and occasionally get a chance to play a Division I program.

en Davis was a tough loss, but we are not going to dwell on it. There are areas we need to improve upon from the Davis game, and we are focusing on those things this week in practice. Having quality games this weekend at Santa Barbara is good for us because it gives us a chance to get right back into it.

en In a Davis Cup tie, you always expect to win. Of course, you guys (the Americans) have the first chance, but in the Davis Cup, you always get some surprises, like the one last year with Croatia. We are also a Balkan country. Maybe we can follow those guys.

en The fact that this happened in Davis is what makes this a book, ... You'd be hard-pressed to go around Davis today and find kids this good as (John and Sabrina) were back then.

en It's a little off the beaten path, it's hard to get in and out of and there's high taxes. But we're ready to jump in and get the place sold.
