To portray Jesus as a terrorist is extremely offensive to Muslims everywhere. Yeah, there's something called freedom of speech, but at least have a little bit of respect.

It was a very balanced statement and it struck, we thought, the right note between freedom of speech and responsible freedom of speech and it also called for greater understanding of Islam and Muslims and greater dialogue between Canadians and Canadian Muslims, so the initiative draws on that.

We understand fully why people, why Muslims, find the cartoons offensive, and we've spoken out about that. We've also spoken out about the importance of the right of people to express their views, and freedom of speech in society.

The American courts ruled that money is speech and speech can't be limited in politics because of freedom of expression. We don't have that same sort of aggressive notion of freedom of speech.

He is singling out the Muslim community again. Rather than calling on all citizens to respect the law of the land and respect traditional values, he is making an inference in his comments that Muslims don't do that. Well, on the contrary, Muslims do respect the law of the land and do respect the values of this country.
